On Saturday my sister and my very good friend, Sarah threw me an adoption baby shower. It was such so great!
The theme was stars. The 3 of us decorated the rooms with a bunch of hanging stars and colorful lanterns and balloons. We made star chocolate candies and star cookies. My parents even had a star cutter made for star raviolis! Many of my family and friends came and shared in my anticipation of becoming a mom (hopefully SOON!).
As I tried to talk to every person who came, and as I opened all the wonderful presents, it was all sorta surreal. I got so many gifts for our future baby....some very personal, some very practical, all very much appreciated! When I was done opening gifts I wanted to say something to everyone who was there showering me. It just means so much that my family and friends support our journey and share in our dream of becoming parents. I have known that, but for some reason them actually coming to MY shower and buying ME and OUR future baby presents - it sorta solidifies our dream - it sorta makes it seem so real. And it feels so good to know that others have faith that we will be parents - enough faith to buy us so many wonderful things, to make us blankets and to start pray chains. I wanted to be able to express to everyone how grateful I am, and how after all this time and everything Jay and I have been through, it feels so good to be "expecting".
I wanted to say all this, but not much came out. My voice was cracking and I was all teary. I was just feeling so overwhelmed. I ended up saying that Jay and I have realized that sometimes God takes you down a road that you're not necessarily expecting, but we are excited to be on this journey and thank everyone for sharing in it with us!. It is so true.
Thank you to everyone again! Thank you for making me feel as though I am an expectant Mom. Thank you for giving us so many wonderful things to help us prepare for the arrival of our baby. Thank you for the prayers and the hugs and for believing in our journey. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you!!!!! Now all we need is a baby! And we can't wait for you all to meet him or her!
