7 weeks old today!

Alex is 7 weeks old today. Each week that goes by I can hardly believe it! He is so awesome, and so darn cute!

Jay and I were talking today about how Alex has just brought so much into our lives -everything we experience is filled with so much more joy now! And we can't even imagine a life with out him in it.

Here's some more pictures to compare and see how much he is growing.

The 1st one was taken at about 2 weeks old and the 2nd was taken today at 7 weeks. He looked like an old skinny man the first time he wore his tie onesie, but today he fills it out so nice. And look at those BIG blue eyes!



Since these pictures are of a similar pose, I thought I'd share these ones too. The 1st one was taken on our car ride home from Long Island when AJ was 6 days old. The 2nd one was taken today (7 weeks). Look at how much more full his face is!


And finally, here is a picture Jay took of AJ laying on me on the couch a couple of days ago. He looks like he is thinking about doing something naughty!

Alex was 6 weeks old yesterday!

I can't believe how big he is getting! I know, I know....he is still a little munchkin, but he is getting bigger and chunkier and even cuter (if that is possible!). He doesn't feel like a rag doll anymore when you hold him. Nothing but a growing chunk of a baby now!

He played on his activity mat for the first time a few days ago. He was noticing the toys hanging above him and even batting at them. So smart!




We spent a lot of time this week with Jay's dad and step-mom b/c they are moving to Florida today. We will miss them a lot! But they bought us a webcam so that they can see Alex live! Here's some pictures from their house here:



We also visited with some of Alex's cousins this weekend. We always try to take pictures of Alex and his cousin Aidan together so that we can see how they both grow together. Aidan is still so much bigger but Alex is catching up! Soon they will be playing with each other! Notice Aidan's onesie - I bought that for him!

Finally, I have been trying to catch one of his "gas smiles" for a picture (he hasn't had a REAL smile yet) but it's hard to do since they only last a few seconds. Here is the best one I have gotten so far. We can't wait for him to really smile!

I have always wanted a sweet naked baby picture so we attempted to do this recently. Here are some pictures my friend Sarah took while visiting us from Philly last weekend:







My "sweet" AJ decided he had enough by the end and you can probably guess what he did to me!!!! Guess I was asking for it with a naked baby boy huh?!

HAPPY HAPPY DAY!

Today is a happy day for us and our family. Today is Jason's birthday.......His first bday as a dad, with a son to give him presents and the first bday he doesn't have to wish for a baby for us. We have been wishing for our baby with every bday wish. Now we have him. What a wonderful feeling!

And to top it all off, the 30 days that K has had to change her mind are finally behind us! We can breath a huge sigh of relief today. Thank God! And thanks to K -we will be FOREVER grateful! She has given us the best gift anyone could ever give, and while I know it was difficult for her, I hope she finds solace in the fact that Alex is so wanted and loved and will have a wonderful life with us in our Forever Family.

Now we just have to finalize the adoption of our son, which unfortunately will take several months. It's likely we will not have our finalization court date until 2009! But we are one step closer now.

We know Alex is our son...we have known that since the day we first spoke to K...but until the court agrees, nothing is final.

But back to this happy day. Our life is great. I have a baby boy sound asleep, looking like an angel. And I have a husband who is absolutely a wonderful husband and father!

Alex is 1 month old today!

Can you believe it?! AJ is already one month old! Last night Jay and I made an imprint of his hand and his foot for a frame a couple fo my friends bought for us. Since we didn't get his first handprint and footprint from the hospital, we figured we'd do this when he was 1 month old. His hand and foot aren't as small as when he was born but they are still pretty tiny.

Today I put him in his monkey outfit which he has not worn since the day we brought him home to Rochester. Then I thought that it would be a good idea to post a picture of him on that day and compare it to him in the same outfit today.

The first picture is AJ on 7/19/08 when he was 6 days old. The second picture is today.


See - he IS getting bigger! Not as much extra skin huh? Look at how much more he fills out this outfit now! And do you see those cheeks? Just when I think he can't get any cuter, he proves me wrong!

We have a doctor's appointment this afternoon for a weight check so we will see just how much weight he has put on since he was last seen. On 7/30/08 he weighed 6 lbs 6 oz. My guess is he is at least 7 lbs today! I will update you all after the appointment.


***UPDATE: Alex's doc appointment went well. The doc is very happy with how he is doing. He now weighs 7 lbs 8 oz and is 20.5" long!!! His due date was last week and the doc said that he is now a healthy size of a term baby. He expects him to continue to put on weight well....maybe he'll even catch up with his cousin Aidan! Haha! The doc said we can try to extend the time in between feedings now to at least 4 hours and increase the amount. Hopefully his system will get used to that schedule and then sleep longer in the night. We go back to the doctor's in 1 month and he'll get his first shots then...not looking forward to that!

Catch up

OK, so I am a new mom. And being a new mom I have come to accept that I just do not have enough time to do everything I want to do...blog, emails, phone calls, laundry, dishes, cooking, cleaning, working out, etc. Alex is the center of my life and my daily activites....and I LOVE it! I would not trade it for anything. I know now more than ever that I was meant to be a mom...his mom! But he sure keeps me busy!

With that said, I do wish I had more time to keep this blog updated. I know lots of people are checking it everyday hoping for new posts. I promise that I will continue to posts so continue to check!

Here are some pictures of our lil guy, who is by the way, getting bigger every day! At his last doctor's appointment on 7/30/08 he weighed 6 lbs 6 oz. That's a whole pound more than when we picked him up in Long Island on 7/18/08. His next doctor's appointment is on 8/13/08 and I expect that he is at least 7 lbs! His belly is getting so big and when you hold him he fills your arms up so much more.
