Happy Daddy-To-Be Day Jason!

Today is Father's Day. This Father's Day I gave Jay a card for the "father-to-be". He surprised me with a card for this past Mother's Day and gave me a beautiful digital picture frame. So I gave him a bunch of presents this morning......they represented all the things (well, some of the things) that Daddies do. Daddies work (I gave him dress shirts), Daddies play (I gave him Yankees golf club head covers), Daddies cook (a Yankees apron), Daddies smell good (cologne), Daddies fix things (a Yankees hammer) and Daddies make us smile (a picture frame for the nursery that says "Smiles for Daddy"). He was surprised to get presents. And I think it made him happy. We have never celebrated Mother's Day or Father's Day with each other before but this year feels different......this year feels like we are expectant parents. And it feels good!

A few days ago I received a present in the mail from my sister. She had ordered it for me for Mother's Day but the shipping got delayed. It's the cutest pink T-shirt and says "Adopting" with a little baby carriage on it. I wore it today.
You can see a picture of it here.

My sis also gave me a bunch of 0-3 months clothes to have. They were clothes that either my nephew Aidan has already grown out of (he's 8 weeks now!) or clothes that have been passed down from her friends. They are very gender neutral and in GREAT shape. So we are pretty much set with newborn clothes.

As you can see in the picture, the one dresser is almost full!

My sis-in-law gave us a blanket that our oldest nephew, Morgan had when he was a baby. His aunt made it for him. It has stars on it so they thought we might like to use it for our baby. Of course, when we are done with it we will return it to Morgan to use for his future children.

We also got a bunch of books today that belonged to Jason when he was younger. And Breanna, our oldest niece, gave us some her her books from when she was little, too. We will hold on to hers and give them back to her some day when she has kids herself.

It's so nice for people to think of us as expecting parents and help us prepare. It feels so good! But then we come home and as happy as we are to be expecting, we just don't know how long it'll be until we meet our baby. And that makes us feel alittle sad. We hope that this was our last Mother's and Father's Days with out a lil one! But for now, it's fun to fill the nursery in preparation for our baby.

Hi Ali & Jay - Just thought I'd leave a hello...and just a little note that we can't wait to shower you with gifts even more next weekend as your time - even though uncertain - draws closer. I know that this time is hard but you definitely look like you're glowing in your adopting shirt future momma! Love you!

We are so glad that this year at Mother's Day and Father's Day it was more of a happy time knowing that your little angel is on the way. It is hard to wait for something so important but it will all be worth it in the end. We love you both! Hang in there!

That shirt is great! Where did your sister get such a great gift? The nursery looks beautiful, and your stocked with baby clothes, now all you need is to be blessed with a little one. It will happen soon (Hopefully for both of us...). Have a wonderful shower!
