And I confess it's true-

"We must be willing to let go of the life we have planned so as to have the life that is waiting for us!"

I just couldn't resist!

Jason and I had said that we would get the nursery ready, but we would not decorate it until our baby comes home. So we painted and re-carpeted the room, bought and assembled the furniture and put some empty picture frames on the dresser. We bought a bassinet, a car seat, diapers, formula, bottles and some other basic necessities so that we can be ready when we get the call to pick up our baby. But we were going to wait to decorate so we could do a gender-specific room. We talked about doing a girly room for a girl and an animal themed room for a boy. But we would wait.

And then I went shopping this past weekend and found a great deal on some really cute gender-neutral bedding. I hemmed and hawed in the store debating with myself whether or not I should give in and buy it. I thought, well, I could just buy it, bring it home and see what Jay thinks. So I bought it, brought it home and Jay loved it!

It has beautiful colors of light green, blue, purple, yellow and white. It has a sort of Noah's Ark theme with a bunch of different animals on it. There are bunnies, alligators, owls, lions, giraffes, and elephants. It also has half moons and stars all over it. The crib sheet is all different colored stars. I love that b/c stars to us have meaning now b/c the agency we are working with is called Adoption STAR. And when I was little, my dad use to always tell me that my mom was like the moon in the sky. Not sure why, but I have always associated the moon with my mom.

So the bedding is all on the crib and I hung the valence. We plan to hang the quilt on one of the walls. I bought a lamp and some shelving too, but we still need to decide the best place for the shelves. If we have a girl, we will play up the purple and if we have a boy, the accents will all be blue. It feels more like a nursery now and it makes us happy to be in there!

I actually have that same bedding. I loved that it could be used for either gender. Now we just need the baby to complete the room.

It is adorable and great for boy or girl. I got so much enjoyment from doing our nursery up ahead of time too. And it was nice to bring the baby home to an almost finished room!
