After a few years of infertility treatments, procedures and surgeries and the many disappointments that followed, Jason and I decided that adoption was the road meant for us. Once we made that decision we were filled with renewed hope and faith that our baby will find us and we will finally become parents.
Initially, we discussed international adoption, specifically through Guatemala. But we became nervous about the issues related to the Hague Convention. We were then told about an agency out of Buffalo, NY that places newborns domestically. The agency is called Adoption STAR. We spoke with some people who have gone through STAR and had wonderful experiences, so after doing some more research we quickly decided that STAR was the agency for us.
We registered with STAR and completed all the necessary paperwork in Feb 2008. We attended the required homestudy classes in Feb-March 2008. Our homestudy visits were completed on April 13, 2008. On May 13, 2008 (just 2 days after Mother's Day) we became official - we are homestudy approved and available to be profiled. This means that at any time we may be matched with a birth mom and baby.
And so the wait begins........
"We must be willing to let go of the life we have planned so as to have the life that is waiting for us!"
