Yesterday Alex turned 5 months old. To celebrate, we took him to see Santa Claus for the first time at the mall. Poor guy was napping right before sitting on Santa's lap so he looked a little dazed and confused. But he didn't cry, so that's good. We even got him to crack a little smile for Santa. Gramma Sharon met us there so she could get in on the picture taking, too. She got him to smile real big!

Tomorrow is my bday and so like I have since I was a little girl, we will go get our Christmas tree tomorrow. Jay and I are both taking a half day at work so we can spend the rest of the day together as a family - we'll go out to lunch, get our tree and then later we will decorate the tree and maybe watch "It's a Wonderful Life".
Last night we celebrated my bday with Jay's family and tonight my family is coming over for dinner and cake.
It's so surreal that my bday wish has finally come true - what to wish for now?! I don't want to WANT for anything at this point...I know at some point in the future we are gonna wanna adopt again and then we will be longing for another child - a sibling for our precious AJ. But right now I just wanna enjoy what we have and revel in our current happiness and fulfillment. It feels so absolutely wonderful to be at a place in our lives where we are not desperately longing for a child. We have a child - our beautiful boy who is just so perfect for us. It's amazing how quickly life can change and I am so happy to celebrate this bday as a Mommy.
Alex is 22 weeks today. I know it is sorta silly to continue to do "weeks" at this point but I want to have pics of his first 52 weeks of life. So I make sure to take a pic every week on his "week bday" and I try to post at least 1 each week. Bear with me ;-) When you see this face, can ya blame me?!

I had a cute moment with Alex this afternoon. I was holding him in my lap and I whispered in his ear "I got a secret.....I love you". Well, he grinned and buried his cute face in my shoulder. I thought maybe it was a coincidence so I whispered it again...and again...and again. And every time he smiled that precious grin. I just love those moments btn me and him!
FYI: We finally got around to posting the video from when AJ rolled over for the 1st time. If you wanna see it, it is included in the "Thanksgiving" post below...

Happy Birthday Alison!
